Yuba City, California, one of multiple communities benefiting from the Yuba-Sutter Enterprise Zone, recently hired Darin Gale as its new Economic Development Manager. Read todays’ article in the Appeal-Democrat by reporter Ashley Gebb.
This is a new position for Yuba City, which is taking bold actions to enhance it’s own economic development activities. One such effort involves new quarterly goals to increase the business community’s awareness of the Yuba-Sutter Enterprise Zone.
This new focus, however, comes at a cost that some may consider unfortunate. At the same time, the City Council feels economic pressure to phase out its funding contribution to regional economic development efforts through the Yuba-Sutter Economic Development Corporation.
Yuba and Sutter Counties have enjoyed the benefits of their own enterprise zone for more than two decades. The original zone expired in 2006 and a new enterprise zone was designated effective on October 15, 2006.
