Tax Extenders a Top Priority for New Chairman of U.S. Senate Finance Committee
Senator Ron Wydon (Dem of Oregon) took over this week as the new Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. Senator Wydon replaces Senator Max Baucus, who was recently appointed as the United States Ambassador to Japan. Like Senator Baucus, Wydon favors an early passage of tax extenders, including WOTC. Last Chance for WOTC Extension This Year – Contact Your Senator Today
Efforts to date have failed to include an extension of the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) in any doc-fix legislation. The Senate Finance committee has turned away efforts to include WOTC in the proposed doc-fix reform bill. While the reform bill awaits further revision, it will not be voted on until 2014. In the mean time, a temporary doc-fix patch-up measure is expected to pass this week. (more…)

Tax Tug of War Continues – Tax Extenders Missing but Still on Radar
The U.S. Senate voted today to pass a Democrat version of the 2012 tax cut bill. The House of Representatives introduced its own Republican version yesterday and will vote on it next week. While neither proposal addresses WOTC or the majority of other tax extenders, no one expects either version to become law. And so the tug of war continues. (more…)
