“Form and Instructions for 8850 will be available in the near future.” – or so says the IRS

For a short period last week, a new version of form IRS 8850 was available from the IRS website.  Form IRS 8850 is the “Pre-Screening Notice and Certification Request for the Work Opportunity Credit.”  The odd thing is, the form is no longer available.  (We tried to download it this morning.)
If you attempt to download the file at this time, an alternative file is provided instead. The alternative file is a single blank page with one sentence reading:
Form and Instructions for 8850 will be available in the near future.”
That still seems to be a good sign.
But we have an inside scoop.  Our WOTC Center contact-person from Pennsylvania managed to snag a copy of the form before it disappeared again last week.  It includes questions for the new unemployed veteran and disconnected youth eligibility categories. Since the form was quickly removed from the IRS website, however, until we have further instructions from the IRS  we must assume it was posted in error and is not yet ready for distribution.
