Not withstanding the Senate’s overwhelming bipartisan support for the EXPIRE Act as demonstrated on Monday, a procedural move by Senate Democratic leaders has resulted in a (hopefully temporary) Republican revolt against the bill. Earlier today, the US Senate voted overwhelmingly (96 for, 3 against) to take up HR 3474, the Expiring Provisions Improvement Reform and Efficiency (EXPIRE) Act.
This procedural vote of cloture means that a final vote on the bill may be coming soon. In the mean time, amendments will be considered and negotiations concluded. We anticipate a vote on the floor of the Senate as early as this week. (more…)PUBLISHED IN

The EXPIRE Act proposes to extend WOTC through 2015 and support for the bill in the Senate is strong; HOWEVER, proponents of the Work Opportunity Credit face a serious challenge in the House where the Ways and Means Committee is now taking up individual tax extender programs for evaluation.
