An amended version of California Assembly Bill (AB) 231 was posted yesterday on the Official California Legislative Information website. As originally introduced on February 2 by Assembly Members V. According to a press release issued today by Californians for Jobs and Safe Communities, the California Republican Party passed a resolution this weekend urging Republican legislators to:
vote to oppose the elimination of the California Enterprise Zone Tax Credit Program and look for further ways to expand tax credit programs to spur economic growth.
The party held its spring convention this weekend in Sacramento. According to the press release, the resolution received unanimous support from Republicans in committee during the convention on Saturday. (more…)

The delay in the State of California’s budget vote is providing opportunities for Enterprise Zone supporters to inform the State’s legislators about the program. A group from the San Bernardino area has already scheduled 25 meetings with legislators during their two-day visit next week. (more…)

The Governor’s office issued the following statement today.
SACRAMENTO – Following “positive and productive” budget talks between Governor Jerry Brown and legislators on both sides of the aisle, Press Secretary Gil Duran issued the following statement.”
“Governor Brown has continued to engage in positive and productive budget discussions with legislators on both sides of the aisle. For this reason, he has asked the Pro Tem and the Speaker to temporarily delay any vote on the budget in order to allow more time to find common ground and to put the state’s finances back in balance.”

On the tail of Governor Jerry Brown’s admission today that he did not yet have the votes needed for his budget reforms, we hear now from five Republican State Senators involved in the negotiations. BizFed, The Los Angeles Business Federation, issued an Action Alert yesterday urging businesses to contact Governor Brown and their legislators in Sacramento.
